Over the Holidays

Let me just start by saying that when I first started this blog, it was a way for me to get my work out there  Over the last few weeks, it has slowly started to turn into a blog about my journey into becoming a photographer. I am so glad that I get to share this journey with all of my followers and even those who don’t follow me. Thank you everyone who follows and keeps up with my work. And thank you to all of those who haven’t yet found my blog. I am grateful for all of you.

Anyways…

For Christmas Santa brought me a brand new editing software. Photoshop Elements 11. I know that it isn’t the fancy kind of Photoshop but I love it. It does everything I need it to without the hassle. In due time, I would like to have a higher level Photoshop but for now Elements works just fine for me.

Recently, I got some new effects for my Photoshop. It’s been fun playing around with them and learning how to make the effects work for my photos. The effects add a nice touch to the photos, while still keeping to the natural beauty.

I took two photos from last weekends session with my friend and reedited using the new effects. I like the way they turned out.

On this photo I blurred everything but her face, since I really wanted the focus to be there.  Then I added a little bit of shine to her eyes. After that I used my new effect could “Happy Glow” to give it that nice warm feeling.

This photo I used an effect called” Bokeh“, which gave it some deth-of-field to the background. I then followed it up with “Gold Rush”, which gave it that color process look.

I’m looking forward to using these effect in other photos that I take during sessions. I feel like it will add a lot more to my work and portfolio that I am working on putting together.

In other news, I have two photo sessions booked for this weekend. The first one is with a couple, which I am looking forward to. The second one is with some male friends of mine, which should be fun. Then I have two more sessions booked for February 9th. The first one of the day is with a cute little baby and the second is with an older woman.  I am looking forward to all four sessions and I can’t wait. I feel like this is a very good start to my photography.

Last but not lest, if you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and like the above effects, check out the website they came from. They also offer a ton of other things that deal with business like welcome packets, reminder cards and questionnaires. They also have videos to help you with downloading and everything. It’s a great site so check it out.
